Event Summary

 

The Moot Court Society (“MCS”) of Pravin Gandhi College of Law (“PGCL”) has shown a drive to bestow knowledge and information into the different fields of law that are not familiar at large. With this point, we directed a webinar on Benami and Anti Money Laundering Laws another addition to its Happy to Guide Initiative. The official poster was released on the 14th August,2020 and the registrations for the webinar also began on the same day.

 

On 16th August 2020, the webinar commenced at 11:00 AM with the felicitation of the guest speaker by our student coordinator Mr. Anosh Irani. The webinar was unquestionably inspiring as we were graced by our esteemed speaker Adv. Ashwani Taneja.  Adv. Taneja has been the former member of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal and the Indian Council of Administration, New Delhi.

 

The featured expert Mr. Taneja mirrored his significant knowledge on Benami Law. It was an exceptionally intuitive session on the interplay of laws dealing with economic offenses. A comprehensive explanation of Money Laundering in India kept the participants locked in. The participants instilled information, thoughts, and legal understanding of Benami Laws, Anti Money Laundering law, and the Black Money Act.

 

Then following the structured process of understanding of the topic, the participants actively raised some brainstorming questions, which were thoroughly answered by Sir. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Mili Kothari.
